Long Time, No Blog

10 Apr

Confession– I have been pretty lapse in blogging recently.  However, with all the upcoming festivities and life changes, I feel I should get back on track.  The past few days were quite eventful, so I figured that seems like a great place to pick back up—

Our Easter weekend started off with The Big Bad Bunny Scavenger Hunt in downtown Asheville.  We were ambitious in the beginning- donned with face paint, bunny ears and tails, we ran as hard as we could to the first location (Battery Park Book Exchange and Wine Bar) and found the first clue almost immediately.  We were rewarded with a glass of champagne and the next clue.  Our ambition pretty much stopped there….over the course of the next 2 hours we struggled our way through 4 more clues – played instruments, solved math equations, participated in card tricks and even completed an obstacle course at the YMCA.  After searching for the last stop for over 30 minutes, we decided to take a break.  (BTW – if you know where Chuck Norris is on Lex., please let us know).

We cooled down with Craggie Brewery’s Antebellum Ale and Burning Barrel while solving the crossword puzzle made up of local trivia.  We did not even come close to winning the scavenger hunt, but we had a great time trying!  We will definitely be there  again next year;)

We tucked in before 10pm Saturday evening and rose VERY early at 4am on Sunday to travel to Chimney Rock State Park.  The sunrise over Lake Lure and the Blue Ridge Mountains was spectacular(the photos cannot even capture how gorgeous).  It was truly a great way to celebrate Easter!

Back home from the sunrise service we enjoyed a couple more hours of much-needed sleep.  We had to rest up for the final round of The Masters, of course.  A 4-year tradition for David and me- we always watch the final round together while enjoying a few good brews.   This was the first year our whole family (even Owie) enjoyed watching together as we opted not to go out to a local bar.

Lucky us- we were off Monday as well!  The day was slam packed with errands- gym, calligrapher, post office, tailor, grocery store and craft store.  With the wedding < 2 months away, ALL of our upcoming days off will be much the same.  We ended our long Easter weekend with a slice of carrot cake and a chai liquid truffle at our favorite dessert shop, The French Broad Chocolate Lounge.  I’d say that’s how all weekends should end (and I know David would agree)!

Hope everyone had as fabulous of an Easter Weekend as we did!
